About Me

Hi, I'm Kirsty - Not Your Typical Therapist!

Let's get this out of the way - I'm probably not what you picture when you think "therapist." Although I do own my fair share of beige jumpers (they go with everything!), I don't do the whole blank-slate, nodding-silently thing.

In my (virtual) therapy room, I'm very much myself. I swear, I laugh (with you!), and I talk like a normal person - no jargon or therapy-speak. You'll get a real human being who's genuinely invested in helping you navigate life with chronic illness.

I'm a BACP registered therapist offering a confidential, non-judgmental space where you're met with empathy and respect. And yes, I'm absolutely LGBTQIA+ affirming and body and fat positive.

When & Where We Can Work Together

I offer online counselling sessions to individuals aged 18+ across the UK, Ireland, and Europe. Not comfortable with screens? No problem - we can connect via telephone instead.

The Professional Bits

For those interested in the qualifications behind the person:

  • MSc Counselling & Therapeutic Communication – Ulster University

  • BA (Hons) in Psychology – South East Technological University, Waterford

  • FdSc in Integrative Counselling Practice – Ulster University

Outside the Therapy Room

When I'm not working with clients, you'll find me with my nose in a good book, eating chocolate, fawning over any animal in my vicinity, and yes - I'm a die-hard Swiftie!

A Therapist Specialising in Chronic Illness

I specialise in working with people living with chronic illnesses, chronic pain, and other chronic conditions. I've worked with clients managing everything from Endometriosis, FND, Epilepsy, Diabetes, Renal Failure, Chronic Lyme and many others.

Living with chronic illness changes everything - and I'm here to help you navigate those changes, whether you're:

  • Grieving your pre-illness life and identity

  • Working through relationship difficulties that have emerged

  • Processing experiences (good and bad) in healthcare settings

  • Trying to navigate work with unpredictable symptoms

  • Simply trying to find your place in a world that doesn't always accommodate chronic conditions

What makes our work together different? I don't just understand chronic illness professionally - I get it on a personal level too. I have lived with chronic pain for almost a decade. This gives me a deepened empathy for what you're going through, without assuming I know exactly what your unique experience feels like.
